Don’t you just love glamorous movie stars? Whenever I spot Grace Kelly on Turner Classic Movies, I want to run out and buy a flowing, feminine new dress.
Grace was my style icon when I grew up in the 1950s, and no one wore flirty dresses better. Remember her wardrobe – designed by Hollywood’s most famous costume designer, Edith Head – from “Rear Window” with Jimmy Stewart?
Her stunning tulle ball gown from that 1954 film sticks with me to this day – that’s the power of a great dress.
Did you know Edith Head also created Dorothy Lamour’s sarong in the 1937 film “The Hurricane”? And Elizabeth Taylor’s sweetheart gown in the 1951 film “A Place in the Sun. She also designed Kim Novak’s little black dress in 1958’s “Vertigo” and the pale green suit worn by Tippi Hedren in 1963’s “The Birds.”
If you need a notable dress, drop by one of Anthony’s women’s fashion stores or go shop right here on this site, anthonysfla.com.
Dress Like Your Hollywood Style Icons
If you want the flowy, flirty Grace Kelly look, check out the floral dress by Connected at Anthony’s. The coral-colored blooms on the white background are similar to a dress Kelly wore in “Rear Window.” The black-and-white dress by Lola P is also reminiscent of Kelly’s fit-and-flare silhouettes in that classic movie.
If you’re looking for a Kim Novak-style shift dress, how about one of the patterned shifts by London Times? They’ve got a ‘60s groove.
Anthony’s has been dressing Florida’s most stylish women since 1895. If you want to look as glam as a Hollywood star, check out the dresses at Anthony’s.

Val’s get-glam tip of the week: Put on one of your great Grace dresses from Anthony’s and take your partner down to the iPic Theaters in Boca Raton’s Mizner Park. These are glam theaters for grownups. You sit in a chaise lounge and they bring you food and drink.I love to go there for date night with my hubby Marv…and Marv loves it when I dress up like Grace Kelly.
