Established in 1895, Anthony's Ladies Apparel actually began as a jewelry counter inside a Post Office in West Palm Beach, Florida. Today, the family fashion dynasty founded by Gus Anthony and his brothers reigns as South Florida's oldest retailer. As Anthony's heads into its second century of business, the ladies clothing chain continues to be owned and operated by M. Pope Anthony, a third generation member of the Anthony's family.

In the 1920's, Anthony's three-story flagship store in downtown West Palm Beach carried everything from Designer fashion for men and women to sporting goods. The Anthony's family business has survived and thrived over the years despite the fire of 1896 that destroyed most of West Palm Beach's downtown area; the 1928 hurricane that blew the roof off the flagship store, the 1920's real estate bust, the Great Depression and the influx of regional malls into South Florida. In 1976, Anthony's decided to concentrate exclusively on Ladies fashions.

Anthony's 13-store operation is still based in West Palm Beach. The rapidly growing retailer specializes in resort-inspired casual sportswear at affordable prices.
